Lack of updates

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. The problem is that we have been so busy out there at night and each morning and have been having a hard time finding the time to sit here in front of the computer.
First off, I must say that this season is going crazy! Turtles everywhere! In the past week alone I have seen more than TWENTY leatherbacks. Last night we had another five turtle night and four of them were new to our beach. It can be a lot of work when there are that many turtles to handle and luckily Sandy and Niki have been out a few nights helping out. One of the new turtle had a pretty bad encounter with a large boat. She had large healed wounds to her head, front flipper, carapace and her rear flipper looked like it had been through the blender. She nested successfully though and the injury did not seem to affect her at all - these turtles are tough! The last turtle of the night also had an injury. She was missing her entire right rear flipper. I am not sure what caused the missing flipper, but she did not seem to be having any problems and was an expert at digging her egg chamber. She is probably still on the beach right now, so I am off to see if she is one of those magical and mythical morning turtles!
