There was a second nest on our survey area yesterday. The girls are here! We’re getting ready to begin surveys as the 2015 leatherback season approaches its official start. Get ready for an exciting year! Here’s a fun fact for the day from a recent paper that our biologists worked on with Dr. Kelly Stewart – a leatherback tagged in Palm Beach County, Florida was found nesting on St. Simon’s Island in Georgia just six weeks later. That’s over 450 km away! It turns out these girls don’t always return to the same beach.
