It’s one of our favorite times of year – the team from the Canadian Sea Turtle Network was in South Florida for a visit and we got to spend the evening catching up and swapping turtle stories. Mike and Kathleen and their team research sea turtles in Canadian waters. They have been studying the foraging population of leatherbacks that utilize North Atlantic waters using in-water sightings, capture data and satellite telemetry. Their team has even encountered some of our Florida tagged turtles while conducting their research! Check out more at their website or their blog. Now that nesting season is underway, we’re hoping to encounter some of the turtles that they’ve encountered on our nesting beach. We started a tradition two years ago of cramming into a Fiat for a group photo so we had to continue it last night.
