Continuing a tradition that began waaay back in 2001, Its time to announce the arrival of the first Loggerhead sea turtles to appear on our study area. So far there have been three loggerheads tonight, but over the next few days these numbers will almost double each night. Our volunteers are now seeing a few leatherbacks each night but it as been a bit of a slow start to the season. Once we get into the early days of May, these numbers will increase dramatically.
The weather has been pretty rough for the past few nights with heavy wind and high surf. Each night we are amazed by how much the beach changes over the course of the day with sand appearing and disappearing along sections of beach.
If you are wondering what our different beach look like, visit the following links to take a peak at the live cameras.
