We can’t believe it’s been over a month since we started surveying. Even though it’s a fairly slow leatherback season, we’re seeing quite a few turtles and it’s been a lot of fun. We saw five turtles over the last two nights. All of those turtles were seen previously this year. We love to see turtles we haven’t seen yet this year too. It lets us know they’re still around and coming back for a visit. In the last two nights, we’ve seen two turtles that were named after our team members’ grandmothers, including my own. These turtles were tagged in 2010 and 2012. They all have a special meaning to us and it’s great to see them coming back over the years. In addition to those two, we saw one of our new girls from ten days ago, a turtle we tagged in 2014 named Shehyn, and Delilah, a turtle tagged in 2008. We love the full moon and the beautiful conditions. We won’t get many more nights like this.
