We had seven more turtles on the beach last night. One of these was a new turtle from this year and another girl, Parker, who we tagged in 2014, was back for the third time this year. Tequila, named for Chris on his birthday, returned after a five year absence! One of the most interesting finds was a turtle named Rikki that our friend Mario tagged at the Canaveral National Seashore back in 2003. He was nice enough to share the info with us so we’ve been thrilled to see her come back over the years. Seven turtles is an average night for is now that season is starting to pick up. We’re really looking forward to breaking the double digits. Loggerheads have started to pick up too. Pretty soon, this stretch of beach will have several hundred turtles on it every night. It’s pretty impressive to see.
