Early Thursday morning we encountered our first new turtle of the year. Unlike about 60% of the turtles we encounter each season, she had no tags from previous years. One of our volunteers, Valerie, was recently honored by the Jupiter Island Public Safety Department for her role in apprehending a group of illegal immigrants that landed on the beach at Jupiter Island while she was surveying.
