Florida Leatherbacks is a small efficient research operation coordinated by Kelly Martin and Chris Johnson. The work depends on a team of very dedicated volunteers, donors, and partners — and on people who care about the long-term recovery of leatherback sea turtles.
Support the study
Our research is funded entirely by donations. Every contribution helps pay for satellite transmitters, field equipment, genetic analysis, and the long hours of nightly fieldwork that make this dataset possible.

Collaborate
We collaborate with scientists at the Sea Turtle Conservancy, National Marine Fisheries Service, Ecological Associates Inc, Florida Fish and Wildlife, WIDECAST, and academic research institutions. If you’re working on related research and want to discuss a collaboration, reach out.
Volunteer
Volunteer opportunities are limited and season-dependent. If you are interested in joining a nightly patrol during the March–June nesting season, contact us early in the year. Experience with field biology or sea turtle work is helpful but not required.
